On the weekend of 14th/15th April we held a two day get-together. |
On Saturday we met up at Haaksbergen in the east of the Netherlands near Enschede on the Dutch-German border in order to visit the Museum Buurt Spoorweg a preserved railway which runs between Haaksbergen and Boekelo.
Gerco, Iain & Dave are busy measuring the Dutch 'Frog' from the early State Railways. The local on the right is kind enough to to hold the end of the tape-measure. |
Gerco, Iain & Dave discussing their measurements. The engine is a 0-4-0T from Dutch State Railways: Class 651-680. The engines of this class were named 'Frogs', because of their small measurements and green colour. |
Dave & Gerco are taking pictureswhen the historical train arrives in Haaksbergen. |
| Iain likes to tell stories. He was over from England for a short visit for SNAG | Iain was interested in this Swiss loco. This type of loco were bought by the Dutch government from Switzerland during the war to back-up the shortage of engines. | Our
Group Co-ordinator Arnoud Kroes. |
Then on Sunday we met at Dave Doe's home in Den Haag. Present were: Dave and his son Matthew, Piet Scheltinga, Arnoud Kroes, Ian Rice, Wim Thonen and Danny Cockling. Here are some pictures of us sitting around enjoying the fine weather as well as some views of the P87 locos that Piet brought along to show us.
